Kit Pricing: Free, Creator, and Pro Plans Explained

October 22, 2026

Email Marketing · Kit

Kit's price depends on two things: your plan and the size of your list. Here is what you will pay at each step.

Kit, the email tool formerly called ConvertKit, is one tool that creators, coaches, and bloggers use to send email. Its free plan is big. Its paid plans grow with your list. That makes the real price hard to see at a glance.

On October 22, 2026, I went through Kit's pricing page and moved the subscriber slider to see the price at each list size. Here is what each plan costs, what changes as you grow, and the fees to know about.

Quick answer

Kit has three plans. Free costs $0 for up to 10,000 subscribers. For 1,000 subscribers, Creator costs $39 per month billed monthly, or $33 per month billed yearly. Pro costs $79 per month billed monthly, or $66 per month billed yearly, with $50 per month for the first year during the current offer. Prices go up as your list grows. Checked October 22, 2026.

Kit plans at a glance

Here are Kit's three plans with the slider set to 1,000 subscribers, checked October 22, 2026:

  • Free: $0 per month, up to 10,000 subscribers.
  • Creator: $39 per month billed monthly, or $33 per month billed yearly ($390 a year).
  • Pro: $79 per month billed monthly. Billed yearly, it is $66 per month. Right now, the first year of Pro is $50 per month ($593 billed the first year).

Kit says the yearly discount saves 17%. The Pro deal is extra. The page says the "Discount applies only to your first year of Pro." After that, it renews at the standard rate.

What the Free plan gives you

Kit's Free plan covers up to 10,000 subscribers. It includes:

  • Unlimited landing pages and forms.
  • Unlimited email broadcasts.
  • Audience tagging and segmentation.
  • Selling digital products and subscriptions.

What it does not include is automation. Free has no visual automations or email sequences, so you can't build a welcome series that sends on its own. Free also allows only 1 user, and it shows Kit branding.

What Creator adds

Creator is the plan most people move to first. On top of Free, it adds:

  • Unlimited visual automations and email sequences.
  • Kit MCP, so you can connect AI tools to your account.
  • A/B testing for subject lines.
  • Polls to survey your subscribers.
  • Removing Kit branding.
  • SMS marketing, RSS campaigns, and apps and integrations.
  • 24/7 email and chat support.

Creator allows 2 users. If you want a welcome email series, a lead magnet that delivers itself, or a simple launch sequence, you need Creator.

What Pro adds

Pro is for bigger lists and teams. It adds:

  • Unlimited users.
  • Subscriber Signals, which Kit describes as audience research done for you.
  • Engagement analytics and subscriber engagement scoring.
  • A Growth Concierge team with quarterly audits.
  • Deliverability reporting and an insights dashboard.
  • A newsletter referral system with a free SparkLoop plan.
  • Editing links in emails you already sent.

How Kit's price grows with your list

Paid plans are priced by subscriber count. Here is what I saw when I moved the slider, checked October 22, 2026. Prices are per month.

  • 1,000 subscribers: Creator $39 monthly or $33 yearly. Pro $79 monthly or $66 yearly.
  • 3,000 subscribers: Creator $59 monthly or $50 yearly. Pro $99 monthly or $83 yearly.
  • 5,000 subscribers: Creator $89 monthly or $75 yearly. Pro $139 monthly or $116 yearly.
  • 10,000 subscribers: Creator $139 monthly or $116 yearly. Pro $189 monthly or $158 yearly.
  • 25,000 subscribers: Creator $199 monthly or $166 yearly. Pro $279 monthly or $233 yearly.

The first year Pro deal lowers the yearly Pro price at each size. For example, at 10,000 subscribers it showed $119 per month for the first year.

What happens when you go over

Kit's FAQ says, "When you go over your plan's limit, we'll automatically upgrade it to the next subscriber tier." Your emails keep sending.

The other way is not automatic. If you clean your list and drop below your tier, the FAQ says Kit's team "has to manually downgrade plans." You need to email Kit support to lower your bill.

Tip: Clean out people who never open your emails a few times a year. Then ask Kit to move you down a tier. A smaller, active list costs less.

Monthly or yearly: the math

Here is simple plan cost math at 1,000 subscribers, checked October 22, 2026:

  • Creator monthly: $39 x 12 = $468 a year.
  • Creator yearly: $390 a year. That is $78 less, as the page shows.
  • Pro monthly: $79 x 12 = $948 a year.
  • Pro yearly, first year: $593. After the first year, it renews at the standard yearly rate.

Pay yearly once you are sure. Kit's refund window helps here. The FAQ says refunds are possible "as long as you're within the first 30 days of the date you signed up for your account."

Fees beyond the plan price

Kit lets you sell digital products and paid newsletters on any plan. When you sell, Kit takes a fee:

  • Digital products and subscriptions: 3.5% + 30c per sale. Kit says this includes credit card processing fees.
  • Paid Recommendations: Kit's fee is 23.5% of earnings paid through Paid Recommendations.

Sending is not limited. The FAQ says, "There are no sending limits on any of our plans at Kit."

Free trial and switching

Creator and Pro both have a 14-day free trial with no credit card. When the trial ends, you add a card to keep the paid plan, or you drop back to Free.

If your list is on another tool, Kit offers free migration on paid plans. The FAQ says its team handles "everything from subscriber lists to automations." If you are still choosing a newsletter tool, see my Beehiiv vs Substack comparison.

When to move from Free to a paid plan

A lot of people pay for Creator too soon. Others stay on Free too long and miss out on sales. Here is how I think about it.

Stay on Free while you are still testing what to write about. Send a weekly email by hand. Watch which topics get opens and replies. You can do all of that at $0.

Move to Creator when one of these is true:

  • You have a lead magnet, and you want it delivered with a welcome series on its own.
  • You sell something, and you want a short email sequence to follow up.
  • You need a helper on the account, since Free allows only 1 user.
  • You want Kit's branding off your pages and emails.

Here is a cost example at 1,000 subscribers, checked October 22, 2026. Creator billed monthly is $39 a month. So it pays for itself only if the automations save you real time or bring in sales. That math is yours to run, since every list is different.

Common Kit pricing mistakes

  1. Forgetting the slider. The price you see is for one list size. Check the price at the size you expect next year, not just today.
  2. Keeping cold subscribers. People who never open still count toward your tier. Clean your list, then ask Kit to downgrade you.
  3. Paying yearly before you are sure. Use the 14-day trial and a few monthly payments first. The refund window is only 30 days from sign up.
  4. Missing the Pro renewal price. The first year Pro deal ends after a year. Put a reminder on your calendar for the renewal date.
  5. Ignoring sales fees. If you sell products through Kit, add 3.5% + 30c per sale to your costs.

Which Kit plan should you pick?

  • Just starting a list? Use Free. You can grow to 10,000 subscribers at $0.
  • Want emails that send on their own? Creator is the lowest plan with automations and sequences.
  • Have a team or a big list? Pro adds unlimited users and deeper reports.
