Build with AI · Alternatives
Lovable is great, but it is not the best fit for every job. Here is what to use instead, and why.
I like Lovable. My own software, MakerAI, lives on it. But I also tell people the truth: no single tool is right for every app.
So this is not a list of tools that beat Lovable at everything. It is a short list of Lovable alternatives, each matched to a reason you might leave. Find your reason, and you will find your tool. All prices were checked on each company's pricing page on October 18, 2026.
Quick answer
The best Lovable alternatives depend on why you want to switch. Base44 is a cheaper start at $20 a month with lots built in. Overskill is built for selling apps, with buyer credits for the AI in your app. Bolt rolls over unused tokens. v0 is best for front ends that deploy to Vercel. Replit covers many app types, including mobile. Claude Code or Cursor give you full control of the code.
Why people look for a Lovable alternative
From what I see, it usually comes down to one of these:
- Cost. Lovable Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 monthly credits, and big requests can use credits fast.
- Selling the app. You want built-in ways to charge customers for the AI inside your app.
- App type. You want a mobile app or something other than a web app.
- Control. You want to work directly in the code, with your own hosting.
- Live app risk. Lovable's docs say back end services and AI features in your app pause if your workspace runs out of credits.
Be honest about which one is yours. It changes the answer.
Lovable alternatives at a glance

My quick picks:
- If you just want to spend less, test Base44 first.
- If you want to sell your app to customers, test Overskill first.
- If you want to code, test Claude Code first.
Every tool below has a way to start small, so test with one feature before you commit. Keep reading for the trade-offs, because each one gives up something Lovable does well.
1. Base44: a cheaper start with lots built in
Pick it if: cost is your main reason.
Base44 Starter is $20 a month, or $16 a month billed yearly, with 100 message credits. Every plan includes a database, sign-in, hosting, and analytics. Wix owns it. Base44's docs also say manual visual edits in the editor use no credits.
The trade-off: unused Base44 credits expire at each reset. Lovable lets paid credits roll over for a while. And Base44 lists GitHub integration only from the $50 Builder plan up.

2. Overskill: built for selling your app
Pick it if: you plan to charge customers.

Overskill's pricing page describes "Buyer credits": each plan you sell can include an AI allowance for your customers, at a markup you set. Starter is $25 a month with 2,500 credits. Studio is $99 a month with 12,000 credits. There is no free plan, but new accounts start with 500 credits. Take a look at Overskill (I earn a commission if you buy through this link.), or read my full Overskill review.
The trade-off: Overskill says plan credits refill every month and do not carry over. GitHub sync is listed as "Rolling out."
If you already built on Lovable, my guide to moving a Lovable or Bolt app to Overskill walks through the steps.
3. Bolt: tokens that roll over
Pick it if: you hate losing unused credits.
Bolt Pro is $25 a month and starts at 10M tokens a month. Bolt says unused tokens roll over to next month. The Free plan gives you 1M tokens a month, with a 300K daily limit, and puts Bolt branding on your site.
4. v0: front ends that deploy to Vercel
Pick it if: you mostly need landing pages and front ends.
v0 is made by Vercel. The Free plan gives new users $5 in one-time credits, with a 7 message a day limit, and lets you deploy to Vercel and sync with GitHub. Plus is $30 per user a month.
5. Replit: many app types, including mobile
Pick it if: you want more than a web app.
Replit's docs say Core includes all artifact types: web apps, mobile apps, data charts, slide decks, and more. Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly. The free Starter plan only uses Lite build, and its one free published app goes down after 30 days.

6. Claude Code or Cursor: full control of the code
Pick it if: you want to own and shape every line.
These are coding agents, not app builders. You work in a real codebase and choose your own hosting. Claude Code comes with Claude Pro at $20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly. Cursor Plus is $8 a month, but it only uses Grok models. The trade-off is clear: more control, more setup.
How the credit rules compare
Credits are the hidden cost in every tool. Here is how unused credits work in each one, per their own pages:
| Tool | What happens to unused credits |
|---|---|
| Lovable | Paid plan credits roll over, and expire 2 months after issue on monthly plans |
| Base44 | Expire at each reset |
| Overskill | Plan credits do not carry over. Credit packs you buy never expire. |
| Bolt | Unused tokens roll over to next month on Pro |
| Replit | Pro credits roll over for two months |

If you build in bursts, rollover matters a lot. If you build every day, it matters less. Pick the rule that fits how you work.
When you should stay on Lovable
Do not switch just because a new tool is trending. Stay on Lovable if:
- Your app works, and your users are happy.
- You use Git sync, which Lovable offers on all plans.
- You like that unused paid credits roll over for a while.
- You have not hit a real limit yet.
Moving apps takes time. Make sure the reason is real.
How to try an alternative safely
- Write down your one reason for switching. Cost, selling, app type, or control.
- Back up your code. Use Lovable's GitHub sync before you change anything.
- Rebuild one small feature in the new tool, not the whole app.
- Compare the real cost of that feature in both tools.
- Only then move the rest.

Frequently asked questions
What is the best Lovable alternative?
It depends on your reason. Base44 for a cheaper start, Overskill for selling apps, Bolt for token rollover, v0 for front ends, Replit for mobile and other app types, and Claude Code or Cursor for full code control.
Is there a cheaper alternative to Lovable?
Base44 Starter is $20 a month, or $16 a month billed yearly, compared to Lovable Pro at $25 a month, checked October 18, 2026. Cursor Plus is $8 a month, but it is a coding agent, not an app builder.
Is there a free Lovable alternative?
Yes. Base44, Bolt, v0, and Replit all have a free option, checked October 18, 2026. Overskill has no free plan but gives new accounts 500 credits.
Can I move my Lovable app to another tool?
Yes. Lovable says you own your code, and it offers GitHub sync on all plans. Back up your code first, then rebuild one feature in the new tool to test it.
Is Base44 better than Lovable?
Not always. Base44 is cheaper to start and bundles a lot, but its unused credits expire at each reset. Lovable lets paid credits roll over for a while and offers Git sync on all plans.
Should I switch from Lovable?
Only if you have a real reason, like cost, selling, app type, or control. If your app works and your users are happy, stay.
