Title card: AI Agents for Real Estate

AI Agents for Real Estate: What They Do, Cost, and the Rules

October 19, 2026

AI for real estate · Plain guide

An AI agent can answer leads at midnight, follow up for weeks, and book showings. It can also get you in legal trouble if you skip the rules. Here is both sides.

An AI agent for real estate is software that talks to your leads for you. It can answer calls and texts any time, ask a few questions to qualify the person, follow up for weeks, and book a showing on your calendar. You still close the deal. The AI handles the busy work in between.

I teach people how to build AI services for local businesses, and real estate comes up a lot. Below are the jobs an AI agent can do, three ways to get one with real prices checked on October 19, 2026, and the calling and Fair Housing rules you need to follow. Quick answer

AI agents for real estate answer calls and texts, qualify leads, follow up, and book showings. You can get one three ways: AI features built into a real estate CRM like Follow Up Boss (from $58 per user a month, billed yearly), an AI calling platform like Structurely (platform fee plus usage from $0.07 a minute), or build your own on a platform like GoHighLevel (from $97 a month plus AI and phone usage). Prices checked October 19, 2026.

What an AI agent can do for an agent or team

  • Answer new leads fast. A lead from your website or an ad gets a reply in seconds, even at night.
  • Qualify. It can ask simple questions: buying or selling, price range, timeline, and whether they have a lender.
  • Follow up. It can send polite check ins by text and email for weeks, so leads do not go cold.
  • Book showings and calls. It can offer open times and put them on your calendar.
  • Answer missed calls. When you are at a showing, it can pick up, take a message, or text the caller back.
  • Draft content. Listing descriptions, emails, and social posts, which you then review.

What it should not do: give legal or financial advice, make promises about a home, or decide who gets shown which neighborhood. Keep a person in charge of those.

Way 1: AI built into a real estate CRM

Many real estate CRMs now include AI. This is the easiest path if you want everything in one place.

Follow Up Boss pricing page set to yearly billing: Grow $58 per user a month, Pro $416 a month with 10 users, Platform $833 a month with 30 users
Screenshot: followupboss.com/pricing, captured Oct 19, 2026

Follow Up Boss lists Grow at $58 per user a month, Pro at $416 a month with 10 users, and Platform at $833 a month with 30 users. Those prices are billed yearly with 2 months free. Its pricing page lists AI features like smart summaries, smart messages, suggested tasks, and predictive lead prioritization. On Grow, it says some AI features use data from its calling feature, a $33 per user add-on.

Lofty calls itself an AI-powered platform for real estate. Its package page lists AI tools like AI Task Prioritization, Custom AI Agents, and Scheduled AI Tasks. It did not show prices on the page I checked, so ask for a quote.

Best for: agents and teams who want AI inside the CRM they live in all day.

Way 2: An AI calling platform

Structurely pricing page usage rates: voice as low as $0.07 a minute, SMS as low as $0.02 a message, email as low as $0.02 per AI email

Structurely sells an AI call center for lead conversations. Its pricing page says you pay a platform fee, then usage. Voice is listed as low as $0.07 a minute, and texts and AI emails as low as $0.02 each. The platform fee comes from talking to sales.

Best for: bigger teams with a lot of leads to call and text.

Way 3: Build your own on GoHighLevel

If you want full control, or you want to set this up for agents as a service, you can build it yourself. GoHighLevel has Voice AI for calls and Conversation AI for texts and chats.

  • Platform: plans start at $97 a month.
  • AI: pay per use, or an AI Employee plan per business: Growth at $50 a month or Unlimited at $97 a month.
  • Phone: HighLevel's pricing guide says phone charges still apply, even on the Unlimited AI plan.

A good first build is simple. Start with missed call text back, then add an AI voice agent. My guide on how to build an AI receptionist walks through it, and how AI call answering works explains what happens on each call. To budget, see my Voice AI cost guide.

Using AI to write listings (carefully)

General AI chat tools are great for first drafts. ChatGPT Plus and Claude Pro are each $20 a month, checked October 19, 2026. Here is a prompt you can copy. It includes a Fair Housing reminder, because AI does not know the rules unless you tell it.

Write a 150 word listing description for this home. Facts: [beds, baths, square feet, lot, updates, nearby parks and schools by name]. Describe the home and its features only. Do not describe the kind of buyer or neighbor it suits. Do not mention race, color, religion, sex, disability, family status, or national origin, or words that hint at them. Use a warm, plain tone.

Always read the draft before you post it. You are the one responsible for what it says.

The rules you must follow

This is the part most AI demos skip. Please do not.

AI voice calls need consent. The FCC says the TCPA's limits on "artificial or prerecorded voice" calls include AI voices. Its consumer guide says, "AI-generated voice calls are illegal unless the consumer has agreed to receive them or the caller is exempt." Inbound answering is one thing. Calling leads with an AI voice is another.

Telemarketing rules still apply. The FTC's Telemarketing Sales Rule guide lists calling before 8 a.m. or after 9 p.m. as abusive, and covers the National Do Not Call Registry. Your AI should follow the same hours and lists a person would.

Fair Housing applies to AI words too. The Fair Housing Act makes it unlawful to publish any notice, statement, or ad about selling or renting a home "that indicates any preference, limitation, or discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, handicap, familial status, or national origin." That covers listing text and ads your AI writes.

Texting needs registration. If you text US leads from a normal local number through a platform like GoHighLevel, its help center says you need A2P 10DLC registration first.

I am not a lawyer. If you are unsure, ask your broker or a real estate attorney before you launch.

How to start this week

  1. Pick one job. Missed calls or new web leads are the best first choice.
  2. Pick one path. CRM add-on, calling platform, or your own build.
  3. Write the script. The questions it asks, what it should never say, and when to hand off to you.
  4. Test it on yourself. Call and text it like a buyer would. My guide on testing AI call answering has a checklist.
  5. Check the rules. Consent, calling hours, Do Not Call, Fair Housing, and texting registration.

Want to offer this to agents as a service?

Real estate agents are busy and often away from their phones, so they are a natural fit for an AI service. If you want to help them, start with AI services you can sell to local businesses. You could even build your own small real estate tool. In the video below I build and market a real estate software app with AI, even though I am not a realtor.

My video: I build a real estate software app with AI and show how I would market it. It came out in March 2026.

Mistake to avoid: Turning on AI outbound calls to an old lead list with no consent. Start with inbound calls and leads who just asked to hear from you.

Frequently asked questions

What is an AI agent in real estate?

It is software that talks with your leads for you by phone, text, email, or chat. It can answer, qualify, follow up, and book showings, while you handle the deal.

How much does an AI agent for real estate cost?

It depends on the path. On pages checked October 19, 2026, Follow Up Boss started at $58 per user a month billed yearly, Structurely listed voice usage from $0.07 a minute plus a platform fee, and GoHighLevel started at $97 a month plus AI and phone usage.

Will AI replace real estate agents?

No tool can promise that either way. Today, AI is best at the busy work, like fast replies and follow up. People still lead showings, pricing, negotiation, and closing.

Can an AI agent call my leads?

Only with care. The FCC says AI voices fall under the TCPA, so you generally need consent first, and FTC telemarketing rules on hours and Do Not Call still apply.

Can I use ChatGPT to write listing descriptions?

Yes, as a first draft. Give it only facts about the home, tell it to avoid words about the kind of buyer, and review every draft for Fair Housing before you post it.

Do I need to register to send texts?

If you text US leads from a normal local number through a platform like GoHighLevel, its help center says A2P 10DLC registration is required.
