Build with AI · App Builders
Replit is a strong AI app builder, but it is not the only one. If you want a different price, a simpler tool, or a better fit for your project, here are five places to look.
People leave Replit for a few reasons. The credits run out faster than they hoped. The free app goes down after 30 days. Or they just want something simpler.
I checked Replit and five alternatives on October 20, 2026, using each tool's own pricing page. Here is what each costs, what you get for free, and who each one fits.
Quick answer
The best Replit alternatives for building apps with AI are Lovable (Pro $25 a month), Base44 (Starter $20 a month, or $16 billed yearly), Bolt (Pro $25 a month, or $18 billed yearly), v0 by Vercel (Plus $30 per user a month), and Overskill (Starter $25 a month, built for apps you plan to sell). All have a free way to start. Prices checked October 20, 2026.
What Replit costs today
First, a fair look at Replit itself. Replit is still active and still sells the plans below. Here are its plans, checked October 20, 2026:
- Starter: free. You get daily credits for Agent and one free published app. Replit's docs say this published link "will automatically go down after 30 days."
- Core: $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly. It includes "$20 towards more powerful models."
- Pro: $100 a month, or $90 a month billed yearly, with up to 15 collaborators.

Why people look for a Replit alternative
Most of the time, it comes down to cost and control. Replit uses what it calls effort-based pricing for its Agent. Its docs say "Simple requests (like bug fixes or small changes) typically cost less than complex builds." That is fair, but it can make your monthly bill hard to guess.
The good news: Replit's docs also say it "asks for confirmation before a paid action starts." So you will not be charged for a big paid task by surprise.
Other common reasons:
- You want a free app that stays online longer than 30 days.
- You want a tool that feels simpler for non coders.
- You want a tool built for one job, like front ends or apps you sell.
What to look for in an alternative
Before you compare tools, decide what matters to you. Here is what I check:
- How usage is counted. Credits, tokens, and messages all work in different ways.
- What the free plan really gives you. A daily limit and a monthly limit feel very different.
- Whether you can get your code out. You do not want to be stuck.
- Hosting and domains. Can you put the app on your own domain, and on which plan?
- Who it is built for. Some tools fit coders. Others fit people who never want to see code.
If you are on the fence, read my full Replit review first. You may not need to switch at all.
Here is a quick summary card of the five alternatives. Below the card, I go through each one.

1. Lovable: best for polished web apps
Lovable turns a plain English prompt into a working web app. It is known for clean, modern designs.
- Free: $0. Lovable's docs list 5 daily credits, up to 30 a month.
- Pro: $25 a month, with 100 monthly credits.
- Business: $50 a month, with 100 monthly credits and team features.
Watch out: free credits come in small daily amounts. A big build can take a few days on the free plan.
Lovable also says yearly billing gives you "2 months free." Pick Lovable if looks matter and you build web apps, not phone apps. For more options in this space, see my Lovable alternatives post.
2. Base44: best all in one start
Base44 builds the app, the database, and the login system for you. You do not have to wire up outside tools to get started.
- Free: $0, with 25 message credits a month and up to 5 apps.
- Starter: $20 a month, or $16 a month billed yearly.
Watch out: Base44 counts two kinds of credits. Message credits are for building with AI. Integration credits are used each time your app calls one of Base44's built in services, like sending an email. The free plan gives you 100 integration credits a month.
Pick Base44 if you want the fewest moving parts. My Base44 vs Lovable post compares the two head to head.
3. Bolt: best if you want usage that rolls over
Bolt works a lot like Replit's Agent. You chat, and it builds a full app in your browser. Bolt counts usage in tokens, not credits.
- Free: $0, with 1M tokens a month and Bolt branding on your site.
- Pro: $25 a month billed monthly, or $18 a month billed yearly ($216 a year). You get 10M tokens a month, "rollover included," and your own domain.
- Teams: $30 per member a month billed monthly, or $27 billed yearly.

Watch out: the free plan puts Bolt branding on your website. You need Pro to remove it.
Pick Bolt if you hate losing unused usage at the end of the month. My Bolt.new review has the full picture.
4. v0 by Vercel: best for front ends
v0 is made by Vercel, the hosting company. It is strong at building the parts of an app people see and click.
- Free: $0, with "$5 in one-time credits for new users" and a 7 message a day limit.
- Plus: $30 per user a month, with $30 of included monthly credits per user.
- Business: $100 per user a month.
The free plan lets you deploy to Vercel and sync with GitHub. Watch out: the free plan's 7 message a day limit goes fast when you are fixing bugs.
Pick v0 if you already host on Vercel or you care most about the front end.
5. Overskill: best for apps you plan to sell
Overskill is a newer AI app builder. What makes it different is the selling side. You can charge your customers for the AI inside your app. Overskill calls these buyer credits.
- No free plan, but its pricing page says "Every new account starts with 500 credits so you can build something real before choosing a plan."
- Starter: $25 a month, with 2,500 credits a month and 1 custom domain per app.
- Studio: $99 a month, with 12,000 credits a month and frontier models.

On code, its FAQ says you can use "Export ZIP in the Publish dialog to download your app's code, database structure and data." GitHub sync is still rolling out, so check that if you need it.
Pick Overskill if you want to sell your app, not just build it. You can try it here: check out Overskill (I earn a commission if you buy through this link).
How to choose
| If you want... | Try this |
|---|---|
| The best looking web app | Lovable |
| The fewest moving parts | Base44 |
| Usage that rolls over | Bolt |
| A front end on Vercel | v0 |
| An app you plan to sell | Overskill |
| A full coding workspace | Stay on Replit |
My advice: build the same small app in two tools. A simple to do list or a booking form is enough. You will feel the difference in an hour.
Before you leave Replit
- Get your code out. Make sure you have a copy of your project before you cancel.
- Check your database. Moving data is often harder than moving code.
- Check your domain. If your app uses a custom domain, plan where it will point.
- Compare real costs. Credits and tokens are counted in different ways. Try a real task on the free plan before you pay.
- Do not cancel too early. Keep your Replit plan until the new app works.
