Build with AI · Tool guide
There are two kinds of vibe coding tools. Pick the right kind first, and the right tool gets easy.
I build a lot of apps. In my own words: "I've used Lovable, I've used Claude, I've used Overskill just because... I do a lot of apps." My own software, MakerAI, lives in Lovable.
So here is my honest list of the best vibe coding tools. I split them into two groups, because that one choice matters more than any feature. Every price below was checked on each company's own pricing page on October 18, 2026.
Quick answer
The best vibe coding tools fall into two groups. App builders (Lovable, Base44, Bolt, v0, Replit, and Overskill) build the whole app in your browser from plain English, and are best if you do not code. Coding agents (Cursor and Claude Code) work inside a real codebase, and are best if you want full control of the code. For most beginners, start with an app builder that has a free plan, like Lovable, Base44, or Bolt.
First, pick the kind of tool
| App builders | Coding agents | |
|---|---|---|
| Examples | Lovable, Base44, Bolt, v0, Replit, Overskill | Cursor, Claude Code |
| Where you work | A website, in your browser | A code editor, a terminal, or a desktop app |
| Hosting and database | Usually built in | You set them up |
| Best for | Non coders and fast first versions | People who want to own and shape every line of code |
If you have never coded, start with an app builder. If you already have a codebase, or want one you fully control, look at a coding agent. My vibe coding vs no-code guide explains the idea behind both.
What to look for in a vibe coding tool
Before you compare names, know what matters. These are the 5 things I check first:
- A free way to try it. You should be able to build something small before you pay.
- Clear credit rules. Know what uses credits, and if unused credits roll over or expire.
- Built-in hosting and database. For beginners, fewer moving parts means fewer things that break.
- A way to get your code out. GitHub sync or a code download keeps you from being stuck.
- A path to getting paid. If you plan to sell your app, check for payments and sign-in.
No tool wins on all 5. That is why the right pick depends on your goal.
The 8 best vibe coding tools at a glance

Now let me walk through each one.
1. Lovable: best all-around app builder
Lovable builds full apps from chat, with a back end called Lovable Cloud built in. The Free plan gives you 5 daily build credits, up to 30 a month. Pro starts at $25 a month for 100 monthly credits.
Why I like it: my own software runs on it. Git sync works on all plans, and paid credits roll over for a while.
Watch out for: big requests use more credits, and the Free plan has no custom domain.
2. Base44: best for an all-in-one start
Base44 is owned by Wix. Its Free plan has 25 message credits a month and up to 5 apps. Starter is $20 a month, or $16 a month billed yearly. A database, sign-in, hosting, and analytics come with every plan.
Watch out for: unused credits expire at each reset, and GitHub integration is listed only from the $50 Builder plan up.
3. Bolt: best for token rollover
Bolt's Free plan gives you 1M tokens a month, with a 300K daily limit, and puts Bolt branding on your site. Pro is $25 a month and starts at 10M tokens a month. Bolt says unused tokens roll over to next month, and Pro adds custom domains.

4. v0: best for front ends on Vercel
v0 is made by Vercel. The Free plan gives new users $5 in one-time credits, with a 7 message a day limit. You can deploy to Vercel and sync with GitHub. Plus is $30 per user a month with $30 of monthly credits.

5. Replit: best for many app types
Replit's Agent can build web apps, mobile apps, data charts, slide decks, and more on Core. The free Starter plan only uses Lite build and gives you 1 free published app that goes down after 30 days. Core is $20 a month, or $18 a month billed yearly, and its pricing page says it includes "$20 towards more powerful models."
6. Overskill: best for selling your app
Overskill is built for people who want to charge for their app. Its pricing page describes "Buyer credits," which let you charge for the AI inside your app at a markup you set. There is no free plan, but new accounts start with 500 credits. Starter is $25 a month with 2,500 credits. Studio is $99 a month with 12,000 credits. You can try Overskill (I earn a commission if you buy through this link.), see my Overskill pricing breakdown, or read my Overskill vs Lovable comparison.

7. Cursor: best coding agent for an editor
Cursor is a code editor with AI agents built in, and it is now part of SpaceX. The Free plan has limited agent requests. Plus is $8 a month, but it only uses Grok models. Premium is $30 a month and adds other models at API list price, billed separately.
8. Claude Code: best coding agent for the terminal
Claude Code is Anthropic's coding agent. It works in your terminal, IDE, desktop app, and browser. It is not on the Claude Free plan. Claude Pro is $20 a month, or $17 a month billed yearly. My vibe coding with Claude guide shows how I use Claude.

Which vibe coding tool should you pick?

| Build a mobile app or other app types | Replit Core |
| Work on real code you fully control | Claude Code or Cursor |
3 mistakes I see beginners make
- Switching tools every week. Each tool has its own way of working. Pick one and build one small app all the way.
- Starting without a plan. A short brief saves credits in every tool. My no-code app guide shows how to write one.
- Choosing by hype instead of fit. Use the table above. Match the tool to your goal.
What I actually use
I do not use just one tool, and you do not have to either once you know the basics. Here are three of my own live products:
- MakerAI lives in Lovable.
- Freedom Threads, a tool that turns YouTube videos into social posts, is built with React, Express, and MySQL, and hosted on Railway.
- The Freedom Launch Accelerator Guide, a course companion app, is built with Next.js, Supabase, and Claude.
The lesson: start with one app builder to learn. Add a coding agent later, when you need more control.
