Overskill Affiliate Program: How It Works and How to Join

October 17, 2026

Overskill · Affiliate program

Everything Overskill publishes about its affiliate program: the rate, how long it pays, who gets credit, invite codes, and the rules you must follow.

I am an affiliate for Overskill myself (I earn a commission if you buy through this link). So I went through every help article and the terms to understand exactly how the program works.

This guide shares what I found, as of October 16, 2026. It covers the rate, how referrals are tracked, how invite codes fit in, and the rules. I will not tell you what you will earn. Nobody can promise that, and Overskill's own terms say affiliates should not either.

Quick answer

Overskill pays a flat 20% commission on subscription plans, on the first payment and every renewal through a referral's first 12 months. Links track for 60 days, and the first person who referred someone keeps the credit. Credit packs and top-ups do not earn commission. You join from Account, then Affiliate Program, inside your Overskill account. There is no separate application.

How to join the Overskill affiliate program

  1. Get into Overskill. It is invite-only right now, so you need an invite code or a waitlist spot first.
  2. Open your affiliate page. Go to Account, then Affiliate Program. Overskill's help center says opening it enrolls you automatically.
  3. Build your first app if your link is not ready. Overskill says a brand new account's link turns on once the account is ready to earn, "usually right after you build your first app."
  4. Copy your share link. It looks like https://overskill.com/?ref=yourname.

Here is the top of the real affiliate page in my account. I cropped it to the part that explains how it works:

Mistake to avoid: Making up your own link. Overskill's help center says that if you do not see the Affiliate option, it has not been turned on for your account yet, and a guessed link will not track. Ask support instead.

How the 20% recurring commission works

This is the part most people miss. It is not a one-time payout. Overskill's help center says you earn 20% of the first payment and 20% of every renewal through that person's first year.

Here is simple math using the live pricing page (checked Oct 16, 2026). If someone you refer picks Starter at $25 a month, 20% of each payment is $5. Overskill says you earn that on each payment through their first 12 months. This is just how the percentage works. It is not a promise anyone will sign up or stay.

  • Subscriptions only. Credit packs and top-ups do not earn commission.
  • Pending first. New commissions show as pending while the sale clears. That covers the buyer's refund window.
  • Automatic payout. Once a commission clears, it pays out through Overskill's payments partner. You do not send invoices.

Who gets credit for a referral

Overskill checks three things in order. The first one that matches wins:

Illustration: order Overskill uses to decide who gets credit for a referral
Illustration: who gets credit for a referral
  1. Who invited them to Overskill. If they joined the waitlist through your invite code or referral link, they are yours. This is the strongest.
  2. Whose template they remixed first. Only used if no one invited them.
  3. The last ?ref link they clicked. Only used if neither of the above applies. It lasts 60 days.

In plain words: first touch wins. If someone already joined through another person, a later click on your link does not take them over.

Tip: The template rule is interesting for builders. If you publish a template on the Overskill marketplace and someone remixes it first, that can count as your referral.

Invite codes for affiliates

While Overskill is invite-only, its help center says affiliates get instant-access invite codes to hand out. They show up on your affiliate page with a countdown. Here is what to know:

  • Affiliate codes expire 48 hours after they are issued.
  • Each code works for one person.
  • Anyone you bring in with a code or your link is tied to you.

So give codes to people who are ready to start now, not "someday."

The rules you must follow

Section 16 of Overskill's Terms of Service covers affiliates. Here are the main rules, in plain words:

RuleWhat it means for you
Be truthfulOnly make claims you can back up. Never promise results or income.
DiscloseSay you earn a commission in every promotion, as the FTC's Endorsement Guides require
Follow email and text lawsFollow CAN-SPAM and TCPA. Use permission-based lists only. Never buy or scrape lists.
No brand biddingDo not bid on "OverSkill" or misspellings of it in paid search ads
No self-referralsReferring yourself or your own workspaces does not count
You are not staffAffiliates are independent contractors, not Overskill employees or spokespeople
ClawbacksOverskill can hold or take back commissions if rules are broken

That is why every link to Overskill on my site has a note that says I earn a commission. It is the law, and it is the right thing to do.

How I would promote it the honest way

I have done affiliate marketing for years. The approach that lasts is simple: help first, link second. Here is what I would do:

  1. Use it first. Build one small app so you can speak from real use.
  2. Show, do not hype. A short screen recording of you building beats any sales line.
  3. Answer real questions. Write or film answers to things people ask, like "Is Overskill free?"
  4. Use the promo kit as a start. Overskill's help center says your affiliate page has a suggested message, a social post, and an email blurb. Edit them so they sound like you.
  5. Always disclose. Every post, every email, every video.

Do not confuse the two affiliate programs

Overskill has two different things that both use the word "affiliate":

  • Overskill's affiliate program (this post). You earn for sending people to Overskill itself.
  • The affiliate program inside your own app. If you sell your own app through Overskill Payments, its help center says your product gets a built-in affiliate program through Whop. That one pays people who promote your app.

Is it a good fit for you?

It fits best if you already talk to people who want to build apps, like creators, coaches, or small business owners. It is a weaker fit if you have never used the tool. People can tell.
